Habitat for Humanity:
In 2016 WE DID IT!!  WE BUILT A HABIT FOR HUMANITY HOME!!! The House Blessing: On July 22, 2018, we met the family whose home we had funded and shared an emotional,  meaningful, and memorable "Building for Life" House Blessing.  This service officially recognized them as the owners of their new home.   How It Happened: The TCMS worked with Habitat for Humanity, Lafayette, to create a Physician-Build Home.   The collection goal was $55,000.00.  The cost built 2 homes: 1 in Haiti (2-3K) and 1 in the Greater Lafayette area.  The funding-drive ran from June 16th, 2015 to the TCMS Holiday Party in December 2015.  All physicians were encouraged to donate time and/or treasure to this worthy physician community effort.   Habitat is a non-profit Christian housing ministry that buids houses with (as opposed to "for") families in need of affordable homeownership.   Families are selected based upon their 1) willingness to invest hundreds of hours of labor into building their home - sweat equity - and contributing to other Habitat builds,  2) ability to repay the no-interest mortgage, and 3) completion of various educational classes on finances and home ownership. TCMS MADE THE COMMUNITY CONNECTION!!!*****

Wednesday, November 11, 2015 - "Ask Event" - A Physician Fundraising Dinner at The Trails!:   Join TCMS on Wednesday, November 11th at The Trails at 6:00pm for an evening of fun, food, entertainment and collegiality. The focus of the evening is to raise awareness and funds toward a Physician-built Habitat home in the Greater Lafayette Area.  Members of Habitat for Humanity Lafayette will speak about the Physician build home and introduce us to Habitat families who have stories to share of their Habitat Journey.  We hope to conclude with a pledge of time, talent and treasure to this cause which unites all physicians in the Greater Lafayette Area.
